The race to the European Masters Athletics Championships is underway. In 250 days, the event will start and the three Italian cities on the coast of Venice are now preparing to welcome thousands of athletes from all over the continent. The countdown has already begun in Jesolo, Caorle and Eraclea that will host the competition from 5 to 15 September 2019.
It will be a great celebration for an ageless passion and an opportunity to visit the territory where the EMAC 2019 take place. The appeal of the three renowned seaside resorts, combined with the proximity to Venice, is truly charming. A few days ago, Local Organising Committee opened the office in Jesolo and the event website will be online very soon.
At the 21st edition, as usual, there will be not only track events in three stadiums, but also non stadia events. The half marathon is scheduled in Jesolo, while Caorle is waiting the cross country competition and the roads of Eraclea Mare will be the venue for race walking.
Italy will embrace the European Masters Athletics Championships for the fourth time, after Viareggio (1978), Verona (1988) and Cesenatico (1998). The first ever edition, forty years ago, had just over a thousand participants. Since then the event has constantly grown, finding even more media attention and increasing the figures. In 2017 it took place in Aarhus, Denmark, which attracted almost 4000 competitors from 39 countries. Jesolo, Caorle and Eraclea, together with Venice, are ready to take the baton.
