4th BALKAN MASTERS INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 4th Indoor Championships of the Balkan Association of Masters Athletics (BAMA) were held in Istanbul, Turkey during the first week-end of March. The championships were hosted by the Turkish Masters Board and benefited from the support of the Turkish Athletics Federation.

The venue was the Ataköy Athletics Arena, a modern indoor hall, which in 2012 accommodated the IAAF Indoor World Championships.

A record number of over 500 athletes from nine Balkan countries (Bulgaria, Bosnia&Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Turkey) took part in the events of a demanding schedule extending over one and a half days – a challenge for the organizers. The results can be found at http://www.taf.org.tr/2019/03/03/balkan-masterler-salon-sampiyonasi-sonuclari/ web-site.

It was ultimately another opportunity for the Balkan masters to prove that the spirit of athletics crosses successfully their national boundaries. The values of sportsmanship and friendship were once again enhanced in a traditionally warm atmosphere.
