Dear Athletes, Officers, Team Leaders, Volunteers,
Dear Friends in Sport,
Last year we had again a very successful year. We started with the World Masters’ Athletics Indoor Championships in Torun. This event was an incredible positive business card for Polish Masters’ Athletics.
The team around Wacław Krankowski made it a festival of our sport.
In the Spring time the Czech Republic hosted the European Masters Mountain Running Championships – again a great place for the Masters to be. Thanks to Josep Maria Antentas and Giovanni Tracanelli who prepared the event.
In the summertime Venice hosted the European Masters’ Athletics Stadia Championships. Nearly 5000 athletes followed the invitation of the three cities: Jesolo, Caorle, Eraclea.
We could share a fantastic atmosphere among the athletes but had to learn as well that nature does what it wants to do. Thank you to Moreno Beggio who gave his best effort as Competition Manager. For 2020 we are happy to meet in Braga for the Indoor, on Madeira for the Mountain,
Trail and Non-Stadia Championships – Portugal will welcome the masters with a great organisation and with people with passion for athletics.
At the end of the year the EMA Council met for its annual meeting in the head office of EA athletics. First time Vice-President Frank Hensel attended this meeting. Subjects of the agenda were discussed and decisions made:
- the Minutes of the GA in Jesolo passed, - the Constitution was created with the input of the GA - 10.000m track will be deleted for Tampere 2021 therefor only 10k road run, - nomination of EMA Technical Board of Managers and other advisor positions - candidates for the next championships showed their interest but did not yet
send a bidding
Let me say “Thank you” to those who supported our EMA team last year with motivation, help, knowledge, man/womanpower – it is always a pleasure to share the passion of our sport with you.
EMA Council likes to wish you all a Merry Christmas.
Stay healthy and fit, and be well prepared for 2020.
On behalf of EMA
