At the end of the European Masters Athletics Indoor Championships, the 4x200m relays are like the salt in the soup. Sending a baton on the 800m journey and having it carried over the finish line by the fourth runner after four laps is what welds a team together. On the one hand, you have to give your best in terms of speed, and on the other hand, you have to hand over the baton without delay after each lap. There is a lot of interest in this event. The spectators loudly cheer on their teams from the well-filled stands.
Except for the high age groups, usually more than four teams take on the 4X200m event. The relay in M80 was a bit lonely as only one team participated. The younger, the better the participation. This is not surprising, as it may be possible for older athletes to participate in a younger age group.
