The Gothenburg 2024 Stadia World Masters Championships have just concluded, and it is time for considerations and assessments. It was a record-breaking event, with over 8,000 registered athletes from 110 Countries and all Continents, an event made possible thanks to the great effort and synergy between LOC, World Masters Athletics and the Regional Members, Officials, Volunteers, Local Authorities and Sponsors.
Once again, the European Masters were the absolute protagonists. The President of European Masters Athletics, Walentina Fedjuschina, proud of this participation, wants to recall just a few figures:
– 5,807 European athletes representing 41 countries (71% of the total)
– 11 world records set by European athletes (45% of the total)
– 25 new European records
– 68 Championships records set by European athletes (65% of the total)
– 1,388 medals won by athletes from 33 different European Countries, out of a total of 2,003 medals (69% of the total).
Figures that testify to the good health and the continuous quantitative and qualitative growth of the Masters movement in Europe.
