On October 21, the Toronto Waterfront Marathon hosted the 2018 WMA Marathon Championships. Among the 3537 finishers were 55 WMAC Marathon participants. Of these, 22 came from Europe to win 14 medals. It was the first time the WMA has had a marathon as part of a city marathon and not as part of a WMA Track and Field Championship.
For comparison: On 10.09.2017 EMA Marathon Championship was integrated into the 35th PKO Wroclaw Marathon in Poland. EMA recorded 322 finishers.

In the age groups M55 and M60, the World Champions and Vice World Champions were European marathoners. In M55 the Spaniard José Perona Sánchez (M55)won in 2:41:34 in front of the Irish Paul Moran (2:44:21.In M60 the Czech Josef Siegel He won with the finish time 2:57:46 marathon gold. The Spaniard Miguel Díez Garcia finished second in 2:58:22 hours.
A European participant: “It was an absolutely top organized event, only the conditions of just 2 degrees and wind were difficult, especially if you were used to temperatures higher than 20 degrees this summer.”
