| Congratulations to Mick Traynor, who was named Master Athlete of the Year at Glohealth AAI awards at the Crowne Plaza last week. The Raheny Shamrocks stalwart had a phenomenal year in which he collected numerous medals both at International & National Championships. Amongst the highlights were Gold in the 8km CC at the World Masters T & F Champs in Lyon together with Bronze Ind. over 5000m & 10,000m. |  |
Earlier in the year he won Gold in the 5km CC Champs in Torun at the European Masters Indoor Champs, plus Bronze in the 3000ms. He returned home also from the non Stadia Champs in Grosseto, Italy, mid May with 4 more additional medals, incl. Gold over the ½ marathon, silver behind Teammate Gerry Ryan, in the 10km plus 2 Team Bronze.
Another Master Athlete to accept an award was Ann-Marie McGlynn, who last year captained the Irish Women’s Team when capturing Bronze at the European CC Champs, as they received the Team performance of the Year Award.
