Guido Müller withdraws from competitive sports

Guido Mueller, winner of the WMA Awards 2004, 2009 and 2014, retires from competitive sports. He finished his hugely successful career as Masters athlete at the German Masters Outdoor Championships 2019.
Only in January Guido Müller had set a new 400m indoor European record in M80 (76.78). Personal reasons induced the multiple world record holder to retreat. So the last 200m competition of the German Masters Championships in July 14, 2019 became his last. A large group of athletes and visitors greeted him cheering at the finish and gave him a warm farewell with standing ovations. Guido thanked visibly moved for fairness, friendship and camaraderie in master sports. He expressed his joy and gratitude for a wonderful time as a master athlet. But now he feels that his motivation for further sporting challenges is exhausted. However, he will continue to watch the competitive sport with interest and wishes the master sport its deserved attention.
Eva Nohl set a world record in W70 Hammer Throw

On the first day (12. 07. 2019) of the German Masters Championships in Leinfelde-Worbis (GER), Eva Nohl (TSV Langenzenn) set a new World Record in the W70 hammer throw with a heave of 38.84m, more than 11 meters ahead of the second place finisher. In her third attempt Eva Nohl surpassed the eleven-year-old record set by Evaun B. Williams (37.40 m) of Great Britain clearly. (The record is pending ratification)
Around 1200 athletes took part in the German Masters Championships and achieved some excellent results. A number of German records have been broken. It should be noted, however, that the age groups are calculated according to the year of birth and not, as is customary internationally, on the basis of the birthday.
