It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that European Masters Athletics (EMA) and the Masters track and field community mark the passing of a true champion, Herman Henriksen of Norway.
His last appearance in an EMA championship was in Pescara 2023, where he won the gold medal and European title in the discus throw M85.
Since 2023 I was in contact with him and his wife Judith, both great persons, hoping to meet them again in Madeira or in Torun. Unfortunately, due to a disease that became progressively incurable, it was not possible.
Herman was a shining example of dedication, passion, and spirit that defines the Masters movement.
Herman embodied the very best of our sport—determination, camaraderie, and an unyielding joy for competition. His golden moment in Pescara will remain etched in our memories.

We extend our deepest condolences to Herman’s wife Judith, to his family, friends, and the Norwegian athletic community. The throwing circle has lost a champion, but his legacy will continue to inspire Masters athletes across Europe and the world.
