EMAC 2019: Looking forward to intense running and walking competitions
highlighted by head-to-head duels and record-breaking performances.
At the W65 400m races an exciting competition between the British
Caroline Powell (WR W60, ER W60 400m indoor)and Saunders-Mullins Joylyn
(ER W65) is to be expected. Let’s look forward to the W55 meeting of
Mitchell Virginia (GBR, WR 800m indoor)and Clare Elms (GBR, WR 3000m
indoor) at the highest level in the 800m races and to the expected
head-to-head race between the M70 European record holder in 800m Hans
Smeets (NED) and Jean-Claude Demarque (FRA). Clare Elms also starts in
the 5000m. An exciting question is whether she can improve Silke
Schmidt’s W55 European record. Jane Horder (GBR) is holding the W60
world record in the 80m HS. Jane’s fiercest competitor will be Rosa
Escribano (ESP), who this year set a world record in the heptathlon with
6255 points. In the 200m hurdles of the age group M80 you can expect a
thrilling race for the gold medaille between Tony Bowman (GBR, ER 80m
Hs), Kjartan Soelvenberg (NOR, ER 200m Hs) and Alan Carter (GBR).
Richards Ian(M70, GBR) set in 2018 a new M70 world record in the 5000m
track race walk. He is the favourite in the 5000m track race walk as
well as in the 10km and 20km road walks.
