23 March 2019 at 6 p. m. Arena Toruń. Łukasz Maleszewski and Maciej Doksa welcomed to the 8th World Masters Athletics Championships Indoor (WMACI). They reported that the WMACI have gathered 4350 athletes from 88 countries competing in 24 disciplines. The mayor of Toruń, Mr. Michał Zaleski, welcomed many guests of honor, including Kurt Kaschke – President of the European Masters Athletics. The WMACI were officially opened by Mr Michał Zaleski and Ms Margit Jungmann, President of World Masters Athletics.
The ceremony began with the entry of the nations, accompanied by marching music and ended with a concert entitled „ A musical trip around the world”. The artists performed 10 pieces of world film music from sport-related movies.
