World and European Records by Esther Pedrosa and Petra Bajeat

    Last weekend (20/11 and 22/11/2021), three international indoor records were set in the women’s Masters (pending ratification):

    Petra Bajeat (W55, FRA): Pentathlon (4794), Long Jump (5.07) – European Records

    Maria Esther Pedrosa (W60, ESP): 800m (2:35.22 ) – World Record

    Second World Record for Maria Esther Pedrosa (W60, ESP)

    Master RFEA ATLETISMO reported that on Saturday 20 October, Esther Pedrosa set in Ourense a W60 indoor world record in the 800 meters, clocking in at 2:35.22. Esther had already broken the 3000 m world record (11:11.16) in Antequera on 23 October and had come very close to breaking the 1500 m world record in the Cto de Clubes in Valencia on 13 October.

    With this world record, 45 international records have already been set by Spanish Masters athletes this year.

    Petra Bajeat (W55, FRA)

    Petra Bajeat from France set a new W55 European record (ER) in the pentathlon in Nantes with 4794 points to better Maria Rosa Escribano’s record of 4435. During the pentathlon, Petra improved the W55 ER in the long jump by 10 cm to 5.07 m. Ramona Pfeiffer, GER, held the European record so far with 4.97 m. Petra Bajeat on the day after the competition (meaning): “Yesterday was my first indoor competition after two years. It was a lot of fun. The good performances were surprising for myself and motivate for the coming season.”

    Pentathlon combines five athletics events (Short Hurdles, High Jump, Shot Put, Long Jump, 800m) with points awarded based on measurements and times achieved. The results of Petra Bajeat’s pentathlon:

    9.78 – 1.46 – 10.05 – 5.07 – 2:58.90 : 4794 points
